Film image registration determines the film position relative to the coordinates of the delivered field represented by the isocenter of the radiation machine. The scanned image must have fiducial marks.
Fiducial marks are either directly related to the position of the iscocenter which is part of the treatment plan - e.g. fiducials may mark the x and y positions of the isocenter on the film or Fiducials form are pattern that is also available at the treatment plan - e.g. fiducials mark special locations at the used phantom which are also marked on the plan.
